The Shrapnel line, "In the tradition of such classic rock/fusion recordings as Tony William?s Lifetime, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Bruford and Coliseum II, to name a few, Heavy Machinery enters the arena featuring world class performers Jens and Anders Johanssen (Yngwie Malmsteen) and guitar legend Allan Holdsworth (Soft Machine, Bruford, Gong, UK, IOU)". There's a reason why guitarists such as Eddie Van Halen idolize Holdsworth--the guy is a monster player who can show any guitarist a dozen ways to enhance his or her playing. Excellent guitar solos abound on Heavy Machinery, and Anders Johansson does a particularly nice job on the drums.

One of the best fusion albums ever recorded! Completely
overlooked. Don't know many people who have this
CD or know anything about it. I am a fan of fusion and have
listened to Allan since he was with Bruford on his first solo
album. I want to tell everyone that this CD just smokes!! You must listen to it loud!!

Allan Holdsworth takes virtuoso jazz fusion guitar to an entire new level. Unlike other guitarists of his league, like Shawn Lane, he is a level above. His freestyle fusion chops are ALL melodic and played at hyperspeeds yet they remain just perfect sounding. Don't get me wrong Shawn Lane is excellent but Allan Holdsworth is something else. Not to mention that his music is impossible to play unless your fingers are 12 inches long. And did I mention the overall CD sounds absolutely phenomenal and beautiful and each song conveys a different feeling.
The basswork is incredible, the basslines are thoughtful and original. The drumming is amazing as well, I had no idea Yngwie's drummer could do this type of jazz, however it is rather metal-influenced jazz drumming with double bass work in there. The keyboards float through and give Allan the perfect backing, and more often than not trade solos with Allan. All the players on this CD are simply amazing. This is one of the tighest most amazing groups I've ever heard. I can't stop raving about this CD. I only wish they'd do another one.

Российская группа MECHANICAL POET и остинский прог/пауэр коллектив MEYVN подтвердили свое участие в фестивале ProgPower Europe 2007, который состоится 7 октября 2007 года в голландском городе Baarlo. На фестиваль также заявлены JON OLIVA'S PAIN, HEAVEN'S CRY, CIRCUS MAXIMUS и DREAMSCAPE

Гитарист MEKONG DELTA Peter Sjöberg (также известный как Peter Lake по группе THEORY IN PRACTICE) записал гитарные партии для нового альбома группы и в данный момент сконцентрировался на партиях соло гитары и дополнительных партиях. Аранжировки для парии вокала уже готовы, но пока легендарные немецкие прогрессив-трэшеры не нашли подходящего кандидата на роль вокалиста. На этой неделе группа приступила к прослушиванию возможных кандидатов.
Из других новостей стало известно, что лидер и басист группы Ralf Hubert сообщил, что группа запишет свою версию знаменитого отрывка из 10 симфонии Дмитрия Шостаковича "Allegro" для нового CD.

Состав MEKONG DELTA пополнился знаменитым ударником Uli Kusch’ем (ex-MASTERPLAN, HELLOWEEN).

Zardoz Music в прошлом году выпустили двухдисковую компиляцию, под названием "The Principle of Doubt", в которую вошло 22 трека с разных альбомов MEKONG DELTA.

В сети опубликовано видео коллектива CLOUDSCAPE на композицию "Demon Tears"; его можно посмотреть ЗДЕСЬ. Клип был снят и смонтирован под руководством Rainer'a Holmgren'a и войдет на пробный DVD, который можно будет приобрести 31 марта 2007 года во время фестиваля ProgPower UK. В съемках приняли участие одиннадцать персонажей, среди которых - ведущий вокалист шведского glam rock коллектива NASTY IDOLS Andy Pierce. Режиссер Rainer Holmgren также задействован в клипе, появляясь в кадре во время боксерского поединка.
Композиция "Demon Tears" - со второго альбома CLOUDSCAPE, "Crimson Skies", который был записан в студии RoastingHouse (Malmö) под руководством продюсеров Anders’а "Theo" Theander’а и Pontus’а Lindmark’а. Оформлением альбома занимался Mattias Norén.

EVERGREY начали работать на новым альбомом.

Шведская progressive metal группа EVERGREY вернулись на репетиционную базу, где готовятся к записи нового студийного альбома. Предположительно группа приступит к записи следующего альбома, за вышедшим в этом году "Monday Morning Apocalypse", в феврале следущего года, а выпустить альбом в мае 2007 года.
Вокалист и гитарист группы Tom S. Englund так прокомментировал это событие: «Мы пока ещё не выдавали такого тяжелого и мрачного материала».

Как сообщалось ранее, EVERGREY вместе с HARDCORE SUPERSTAR и AVATAR выступят на третьем ежегодном концерте "Chaos Before New Year", который пройдет 29 декабря на сцене Trädgårn шведского города Готенбург. Ранее в нем участвовали такие группы, как IN FLAMES и DARK TRANQUILLITY.

Гитарист EVERGREY Henrik Danhage заменит гитариста IN FLAMES Björn’а Gelotte на время их предстоящего тура по Америке, в связи с тем событием, что жена Gelotte'а родила второго ребенка.

Последний альбом EVERGREY "Monday Morning Apocalypse", был записан на студии Division One Studios в Готенбурге (Швеция) совместно с командой опытных продюсеров, таких как Sanken Sandquist и Stefan Glaumann, которые ранее работали с такими музыкантами и группами как RAMMSTEIN, BON JOVI, BRITNEY SPEARS и DEF LEPPARD.
